- Go and empty the Trash. You can do this once you’ve gone through your downloads folder. The Trash is where deleted files go to. They are kept here so that if you later change your mind, they can be rescued. It’s best to empty out the Trash regularly to keep the most disk space free.
- Locate the Trash on the Dock. On the far right, control-click or do a right-click on the icon and choose Empty Trash. You can also empty the Trash by opening the Trash and clicking on the Empty button in the upper right-hand corner of the Finder window.
